First of all, wash any makeup off of your eyes and lashes to enable the moisture work of the emollient to seep in after application. . Twiddle a small ammount of vaseline in between the tips of your fingers This will warm it up and make it easier to apply.

Layer your mascara wand with the Vaseline and use  as if you were applying mascara, brushing the Vaseline to your upper lashes. Coat both sides of your lashes thoroughly, making sure not to get any in your eyes.

Being careful, once again, to not get the Vaseline in your eyes, apply it to your bottom lashes.Your lashes will clump together when you apply the Vaseline. Avoid applying too much or it will end up smudging your our face and sheets. Use just about enough to coat your eyelashes evenly in one thin coat. Sleep with it and wash it off in the morning.  If you apply this every night, the Vaseline will moisturize your lashes which prevents them from breaking off and falling out prematurely.
